Project DIGiTS: Startup Blast Podcast

"Technopreneurship, as defined by the CIIT College of Arts and Technology, is the process of integrating technological innovations with entrepreneurial ventures to establish or transform businesses. This discipline leverages emerging technologies to develop unique products that meet market demands, driving competitive advantage and regional economic growth. According to PhilDev, Philippine startups generated a large sum of USD 152 million in 2019. Two years later, total funds raised have reached up to USD 1.03 billion with USD 437.50 million funds raised in just the first half of the year. This increase in funding over the past years in the startup ecosystem has been a result of the rise of technology-enabled startups across the country. Moreover, the Philippine Government has expressed its commitment in supporting technology-based startups, with the passage of legislation such as the Innovative Startup Act. While the Philippine startup ecosystem has seen exponential growth centered in Metro Manila, the Bicol Region remains a fertile ground for emergence of innovation. By empowering students through Project DIGiTS, we are not just participating in a national trend; we are ensuring that Bicolano talent is equipped to solve regional challenges, such as disaster resilience and agricultural efficiency, through home-grown tech solutions. In consonance to the goal of informing the significance of startups in social and economic development, the Bicol University - Movement for the Advancement of Youth-led Advocacy, under its Project DIGiTS banner, in partnership with BICORSE, will spearhead** Project DIGiTS: Startup Blast,** an initiative that seeks to foster and interest for startup and technology-based businesses among young people, with the trend shifting to younger demographics. It is a podcast-type engagement, aiming at generating conversations on startups by founders, industry players, and students who are aligned with the endeavor. The podcast shall commence on May 15, 2026 at 1:00 PM via Facebook Live and Zoom, encouraging students across the province and the region to join in this sparkling discussion, ranging from tech to tips in creating startups."
