MADYA advocates attend Renewable Energy Conference

LEGAZPI, Albay — The Bicol University - Movement for the Advancement of Youth-led Advocacy (BU MADYA) advocates has been invited to attend the recently concluded Just Transition Summit.This conference was spearheaded by the Albay Renewable Energy Alliance, held at The Oriental Hotel Legazpi on August 5 -7, 2026.

The Albay Renewable Energy Alliance (AREA) under the Philippine Movement for Climate Justice (PMCJ) invited various participants from partner stakeholders and organizations such as: civil society organizations; international, national, and local stakeholders and; media and youth organizations in the pursuit of a just transition in advancing a sustainable, democratic, and people-centered energy transition.

AREAs initiative aims to have 100% renewable energy by 2050 in Albay. The goal is to have a sustainable use of Albay’s geothermal energy.

To further discussions on sustainable development, renewable energy, climate resilience, and a just energy transition for the Province of Albay, the three-day conference brought together international development partners, ambassadors, national government agencies, local government officials, academia, the private sector, and other important stakeholders.

This conference speakers introduced the plans and the roadmap to reach the goal as well as the woes and challenges that Albayanos might face over the years.

AREA and PMCJ assure that there will be no one left behind and that every people living in Albay will experience the renewable energy initiative — including the farmers and not just the government.

Just Transition discussion was once again held today, September 19, 2026 through an online webinar in which ten advocates attended.
